The Story of our Bones

Tuesday 13 April 2021, 12:00pm to 12:30pm (AEST)

Speaker: Professor Jacqueline Center

Our bones are in a continuous state of remodelling through life, where old and damaged bones are replaced by new bones. As we age, this rebuilding process can become unbalanced, leaving bones thinner and more fragile. Hear from one of Garvan’s top osteoporosis experts and gain an appreciation for what our bones do for us.

Get into your Genes

Wednesday 26 May 2021, 10:00am-11:00am (AEST)

Speakers: Bronwyn Terrill, A/Prof Sarah Kummerfeld, A/Prof Cindy Ma,

Almost every disease has a genetic component. At Garvan, our fundamental goal is to understand genome biology and its impact on disease. Our vision is to use all the information encoded in our genome to better predict, diagnose, treat and ultimately prevent disease. From our Get into your genes seminar, you will learn the basics of genetics and hear from our researchers about their pioneering research projects.
